Bike assemblers await duty cuts in new trade policy

September 24, 2012

My story:

Pakistani customers deserve economical motorcycles with highest quality. Small motorcycle makers are ready to open up for India and China but there is reluctance from big players who think they would lose some market share.

The entry of new models of India and China will open up more variety of motorcycles for Pakistanis -something that they deserve.

Government should encourage manufacturing in Pakistan but it cannot outright ignore the demand of customers. Pakistan’s bike market has considerably left behind if we compare it to India and China that are now producing Euro-IV standard bikes.

Unfortunately, our cars and motorcycles both stand at Euro II standards.
